I am currently offering FIVE spots as a test run on Friday, March 27 from 4:30-6 pm in Mid-City and Carthay - first come, first served!

What a weird time, right?

As a photographer, I regularly get to go out and capture images of families in times of joy: newborn babies, B'nai Mitzvah celebrations, and just regular old Sundays with the family. I know those moments of joy are still happening right now. And it breaks my heart that I can’t be there to capture them.

Not to mention, EVERY ANGELENO needs to do their part in the COVID-19 crisis and stay at home

I am part of a movement of photographers who have set out to document this time by taking five-minute “Front Steps Portraits” in their cities.  I will take some time each week to scurry around town and snap super fast images of LA families on their front steps or yard...from more than six feet away, of course!

The purpose of this project is to bring us together virtually when we might feel isolated. Participating in this project is also an opportunity to step up to help those who need it most right now in Los Angeles and across the country.

I will post my schedule for the week on Sunday afternoon. I will do my best to coordinate the days around different neighborhoods in this vast city of ours. When I arrive, you can step outside where I will be standing near your driveway or street, at least 10 feet away. I will take a few quick shots and leave - that's it! I will not physically interact with anyone or touch anything during these sessions.

I *will* smile and laugh with you, however, and probably make some terrible jokes that you didn't ask for.

After your quick session, I will email you a high-res digital file of your portrait. Feel free to share on social media using the hashtag #thefrontstepsproject and help keep this movement going! I will also be posting images on Instagram and Facebook (with your consent, of course).

Want to stand outside in your pajamas and slippers? Excellent! Need an excuse to put on real pants and makeup? That works too!

Just be you!

How does it work?

1. Make a donation (suggested minimum $50) to one of the following organizations working to address the COVID-19 crisis:

  • DIRECT RELIEF - providing essential medical items to health workers
  • SAFE PARKING LA - helping our neighbors experiencing homelessness, an incredibly vulnerable population
  • NO KID HUNGRY - feeding kids who rely on free school lunch

2. Forward me a copy of your donation receipt and I will reply back with details of the exact date and time. Feel free to spread the word amongst friends and neighbors!

THANK YOU!

xoxo
